Upcoming shows

Hi -

Here's the first of what I hope will be many posts about concerts in the Hudson Valley area that may be of interest to Secret Music listeners. If I've missed something, or if you have a concert you'd like me to announce, just email me. Thanks!

January 30, 2010 - Three great shows, all in different venues.

Ed Gerhard - Great fingerstyle guitarist. Towne Crier Cafe, Pawling, NY. www.townecrier.com

Stone Document Trio - A progrssive/ambient/fusion trio. The inaugural concert in the One Thousand Pulses home concert series, hosted by Darren Bergstein. Woodcliff Lake, NJ. www.myspace.com/stonedocumenttrio. Email Darren at eimag@verizon.net for more info. There'll be a website with more info soon. Look for more concerts as part of the One Thousand Pulses concert series in 2010, including Richard Lainhart, Spyra, Northern Valentine and others.

Kelli Rudick & Alex Turnquist - Two great guitar players sharing a bill. For Kelli, think Kaki King. Waifish girl plays demonic guitar. For Alex, think James Blackshaw. Intricate wall of sound guitar. And he's local to the Hudson Valley, too. Hudson Opera House, Hudson, NY. www.hudsonoperahouse.org.

January 31, 2010 - A nice Sunday afternoon show.

Louis Landon - Talented local pianist in a solo piano show. 3pm, Newburgh Free Library, Newburgh, NY. www.louislandon.com.

February 11, 2010 - Yes, it's a Thursday night show in Manhattan, but this one is special.

Jacaszek - Polish ambient musician making his first stateside appearance. His album Treny was one of my top 25 of 2009. As part of the Wordless Music Series. Le Poisson Rouge, Manhattan. www.wordlessmusic.org.
